NEW STUDENT FAQ
Definitely not! All of our classes cater to students that both have partners and don’t have partners by using a ‘rotating system’ whereby we rotate regularly, ensuring all of our students get a chance to dance with one another. If you have a partner and do not wish to rotate, simply let the instructor know and he/she will gladly accommodate to your needs.
Wear whatever you feel comfortable to move in! From office wear, to date night attire, to workout wear and yoga pants- wear what you feel most confident in. Don’t forget to browse our boutique where we sell incredible Yoga pants and comfortable tops by Brazilwear that makes our students feel like a million bucks. We have dressing rooms and cubbies to put your things if you want to change at the studio.
Dance shoes are the best option on a dance floor. We sell the best and highest-quality dance shoes in a variety of styles and heel heights for men and women in our boutique by GFranco Dance Shoes. If you want to wait before you make the commitment, as a rule of thumb for Ladies always wear something that secures your heel (no flip flops or backless shoes). Don’t wear a heel that is too high to comfortably dance in for an hour- remember comfort is key. For men, rubber sole bottoms might leave you feeling like you are sticking to the floor, so dress shoes are often the best and most easily available option.
Elegant Rumba’s group classes run in 4-week sessions, always beginning the first Monday (Salsa) or Wednesday (Bachata) of the month. We accept new students into the mix on the first OR second class of the month. If you come in on the third week of the month, it is too difficult to catch up on the material missed, and it is advisable to wait until the new session begins, or take a private lesson.
Elegant Rumba Dance Company has 9 different levels of Salsa to accommodate every level of dancer from the absolute-new beginner (Level 101) to Advanced dancer (Levels 201-203: Invitation or test-in only classes). Whether you have prior dance experience or not, almost all of our students begin in Level 101. If you think you are more advanced, you are welcome to take a private lesson or come early to class to be evaluated, and we will find the perfect level for you!
Private lessons are the way to go! Experience the luxury of convenience with our private dance classes, as we work around your schedule. Your private classes are tailor made to suit your level, your individual learning style, and dance goals.
